Marin Residence

Project type Residential

Date 2010

Location Marin, CA

The project was an extensive remodel and addition to a 1950's house, nestled on a hilly site in Marin. The Architect's house was designed in keeping with the original aesthetic of openness, with glass enclosure, exposed wood ceiling and beams, and large overhangs which connect the house to the outside. A master bedroom wing was added and the kitchen and bathrooms were updated. The existing ashlar masonry walls were kept as elements to define the main spaces of the house. The house has hydronic heating within the slab, solar panels, and a gray water system. While at Pfau Long Architecture, Adriana Daringa's role in the project was that of Project Manager, as day to day contact person for consultants and the contractor, from the design phase through the end of construction. Photographs by Bruce Damonte.
